Ascendant or Rising Signs

Your Ascendant or Rising sign is also called the 1st House in your horoscope chart and in astrology. It is calculated by your time and place of birth. An easy way but, not a precise way, to determine a rising sign or the Ascendant, is to begin at the time of Sunrise. let's say 6:00 am but, given daylight savings considerations it could be 7:00 or 7:30 am. Sometimes depending on where you are located. The Sun rises always rising the particular Sun Sign of the month. If the Sun is in Scorpio, the Sun rises in Scorpio. At 6:00 am or 7:30 am depending on daylight savings time or your location, the 1st Sun sign rising rising will be whatever The Sun sign of the month is.

Let's say you were born at noon, and the Sun is in Scorpio you count counterclockwise through the signs of the zodiac giving 2 hours for the Sun to move through the zodiac. Scorpio, Libra at 8:00am, Virgo 10:00am and Leo at 12:00PM. Your rising sign would be approximately Leo.

By law in many countries the time is kept as a matter of protocol or law. A request to your state archives for a new birth certificate and a special request fro the time will have the time of birth in most cases.
