This date is famously known as the day Roman dictator Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BCE. The tragedy "Julius Caesar" by the English playwright William Shakespeare immortalized it. In the play, a soothsayer warns Caesar to "beware the Ides of March." Julius Caesar was a Capricorn!
