Saturn
Saturn’s Greek name is Chronos, meaning time, delays, heartache, pain, and frustrations, until we submit our will and do what is demanded by the world in which we live. The planet Saturn represents the limitations, of our bodies, the consequences of our actions, and the laws that govern them, in the world that we live in. Karma, keeping the records, and noting all your actions is what Saturn does. It is the last planet of our universe that we can actually see with our naked eye, it is our limit. The planets that come after, like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto we can’t see with the naked eye. They are spiritual and influence us on a spiritual level. While we are on Earth, we have to bow to the ways of this world. We don’t have to agree we just have to be humble and humble our wills. We are ruled by time, our bodies succumb to time, and it is time that ultimately takes us. What are delays but time interrupted, standing still or seemingly in reverse? Denied that which we want, until we do what is appropriate, called for and demanded of us. Saturn doesn't’t ask you to agree, just submit. When you were a child your father didn't’t ask you for your opinion, he said do it or else. Once you did what your father wanted you to do, father gave his approval. So does Saturn. It rules hard work, very hard work. As we grow older your physical father cannot make you do things, Saturn does. By doling out the consequences of this world, he is your father. Once you can govern yourself though, you don’t need your physical father or Saturn to discipline and guide you. Once you can discipline yourself, guide yourself, and then are you ready to go beyond Saturn to the outer realms of Uranus, Neptune and to the planet Pluto. Then you can move confidently and safely into the spiritual realms.
Saturn demands that we submit our wills to the realistic, material plane, and bend in humility to something bigger than ourselves. Saturn rules the knees, knees bend and bow down. Saturn is also exalted in Libra the sign of marriage and relationships and no where else are we tested more and required to submit ourselves to another. Sometimes, we as humans like to dive right into thing things we are not ready or prepared for, and run away when it gets too tough. The very things we desire most are held back, and denied under Saturn’s influence. We haven’t learned enough about it, we may be going about obtaining it the wrong way, or we lack the experience, we may have been unwilling to subjugate ourselves or bend, bow and act humbly enough. We might not deserve that which we desire so much. So Saturn delays the activity. Delays make us think more about what we want or feel we lost. They humble us. Saturn answers the question, “Why?” Saturn’s lessons are not in vain though and after the tears and the struggles, we bend, and submit to the world and Saturn gives back three fold, it’s up to us to decide that if after all that time we still need or want that which Saturn delayed. Saturn is the gateway to the spirit world, towards greater spirituality and truly being a spiritual being. Saturn is the door to what is beyond it; beyond Saturn and our world. This defines one of the differences between Vedic, or Eastern astrology which doesn't’t acknowledge or use the planets past Saturn. Eastern or Vedic astrology, is concerned with marriages, and succeeding in this world, name recognition, and fulfilling material ambitions. It is concerned with the visible or the world in which we see. Western astrology is concerned with the invisible would as much as the visible world. Western astrology goes beyond, the planet Saturn and deals with the invisible influences of all the planets past Saturn. The world we don’t see, beginning with Uranus. You cannot succeed in netherworld without hard work, succeeding in the material world, on the earthly plane, or in the visible. You have to prove yourself worthy before you are allowed past the gate keeper Saturn, to the outer realms and the invisible. How can you succeed on the spiritual plane if you cannot bend to this world? You don’t and you can't.
Saturn rules, structure, and matter. He works within the laws of Karma to help you master life. He rules Capricorn, where the competition is stiff, and winning is fought for hard. One of my keywords for Saturn is persistence. Another is efficiency. A well-placed Saturn never gives up. Another issue is public recognition, what you might feel as your social standing or acceptance by the "establishment." We all understand that wherever Saturn may be in the natal birth chart, we must pay our dues, work hard, and be persistent, and that's a given we accept throughout life. The planet Saturn ignites fears and security issues and sheds light on your "Daddy issues." Saturn doesn't like waste, and and prefers things to run efficiently. Saturn also thinks everyone should have a fair chance at success or winning by working hard. The more you grumble and complain the harder things get it seems. The best way to deal with things under Saturn's glance is as the British say, "Just get on with things." Additionally, the planet Saturn has a wonderful silver lining and blessings of its own and brings enormous success to those who are persistent.
We are in a pivotal time in our collective incarnations that demand we submit our wills to the material world that we live in, and then move on the outer realms of our spiritual destinies. It's no coincidence that we are experiencing a financial meltdown of sorts. We have to stop and fix the things of this world before we can call ourselves spiritual beings. It's no coincidence then that Saturn is opposing Uranus, standing at the threshold of our spirituality and saying "focus on what's wrong with the Earth first". Don't ignore the financial problems or the corruption or the filth that's around you. Work hard, clean it up, fix it and then and only then can you get your freedom, to go beyond, into the spiritual realms.
Saturn, whose Roman name is Chronos, the roman name for time, rules time too. The slow time that makes us wait for things, and work hard to achieve things. Saturn doesn't reward impatience, it rewards slow and steady growth that’s well though out. Saturn rules Capricorn an earth sign, and while not considered a co-ruler of the fixed Sun sign Aquarius has an affinity to the sign of Aquarius. Before the ruler of Aquarius was discovered (Uranus) Saturn was the ruler of the sign of Aquarius. Saturn rules the day Saturday until Sunset when the next day ruler takes over. The Romans worshiped the planet Saturn as a God of liberation, abundance, and peace. He was described as a god of time, generation, dissolution, abundance, wealth, agriculture, periodic renewal, and liberation. Saturn's mythological reign was depicted as a Golden Age of abundance and peace.
Saturn's great festival, the Saturnalia, became the most popular of Roman pagan festivals, and its influence is still felt in the celebration of Christmas and the Western world's New Year. The Saturnalia was originally celebrated on December 17 but extended later to seven days. It was the merriest festival of the year: all work and business were suspended; enslaved people were given temporary freedom to say and do what they liked; certain moral restrictions were eased, and presents were freely exchanged. The weekday Saturday was named Saturn.
Saturn, the ruler of time makes you and work hard to achieve things. Saturn doesn't reward impatience, it rewards slow and steady growth that’s well though out. In Virgo, Saturn is making us look inward at making sure our time is compensated for. Saturn's relationship in the natural zodiac has to be considered when interpreting it's effects during a transit.
Every planet by nature will produce a temporarily binding period followed by a period of expansion and progress, as it transits within a few degrees of your natal planets, house cusps, or points. It's effects will be more dominate when the planet retrogrades. Saturn transits through a chart and tests the integrity and strength of your natal planets. If it finds a weakness, a situation is created, a test perhaps that allows you to strengthen and improve yourself, or a situation. Depending on the retrograde motion sometimes up to three times. So, you will actually have up to 3 chances to improve yourself. Likewise, Saturn bestows great and long lasting rewards for passing it's tests, avoiding temptations and standing up to challenges.
Saturn rewards accomplishments, strengths of character, and tests passed. Saturn transiting the sign of Virgo will challenge and reward us in all 6th house matters. The areas of work, health, daily routine, responsibilities accepted or taken on that are not necessarily our own, boredom, neighbors, neighborhoods, excessive worrying, stress, critical tendencies duties, being overly analytical or scholarly, productivity, hygiene, illness, organization, and efficiency. The only catch is that Saturn asks us to use caution and wisdom in such matters. Accordingly though, under Saturn's watch, stern judgments we are scrupulously weighed. We are again asked to be conservative, prudent, and cautious. Our hearts are searched and if we are scrutinized by Saturn and deemed worthy accordingly and the rewards follow. When trying to understand Planets through signs it's important to understand the planet and the sign the planet is transiting. Every planet, by nature, will produce a temporarily binding period followed by a period of expansion and progress as it transits within a few degrees of your natal planets. Saturn transits through a chart and tests the integrity and strength of your natal planets. If it finds a weakness, a situation is created, a test perhaps that allows you to strengthen and improve yourself or a situation. Depending on the retrograde motion, sometimes up to three times. So, you will have up to 3 chances to improve yourself.

He will influence children, dating, royal figures, the arts, gambling, games of chance, gold prices, and luck (in fact, any games of chance including investments and the stock market are ruled by the sign of Leo) the only catch is that Saturn asks us to use caution and wisdom in such matters. Twists of fate come under the rulership of Leo, as well as prizes, lottery, lucky breaks, winnings, and good fortune. Accordingly, we are carefully weighed under Saturn's watch and stern judgments. We are again asked to be conservative, prudent, and cautious, not dictatorial or arrogant. Our hearts are searched, and if we are scrutinized by Saturn and deemed worthy, the rewards follow. When trying to understand Planets through signs, it's important to understand the planet and the sign the planet is transiting.
Saturn transiting an angled house is more difficult because it signifies a turning point. Those pivotal points in your life where you change direction and make fundamental changes in your life, where there's no turning back. Your opinions and rigid attitudes will likely come under scrutiny from time to time while Saturn transits Leo. The entertainment industry also comes under the rulership of the sign of Leo. Saturn transiting Leo brings tremendous changes to the entertainment, sports, children, how we raise children, how we date, and romance. Saturn in Virgo
Saturn was last in the sign of Virgo September 2,2007 and will transit the sign of Virgo until July 21, 2011. Saturn will transit through Virgo again 2036-2037. Saturn's transit is on average about 2 1/2 years long. The planet Saturn has specific properties in predictive and mundane astrology. In Virgo it is the 9th house from Capricorn forming a trine to it's natural placement in the Earth element. Saturn in an earth sign is very comfortable in another earth sign. This actually means that Saturn is well placed in Virgo and at home with it's earth sign characteristics.
Saturn's relationship in the natural zodiac has to be considered when interpreting its effects on your chart. Virgo is the natural 6th house ruled by Mercury and, some say, Ceres. The 6th house is opposite the 12th house of faith and prayer, Pisces. Saturn in a Mercury-ruled house will be mentally stressful and teach you a lot you don't know. The sign of Virgo rules mimicking, choreographing, dancing, athletics, and sports that require precision and perfect control, like that of a fined-tuned dancer or athlete. We need good health and wellness to perform perfectly. These are some things Saturn influences in Virgo, health, science, food, dependents, pets, your job, employment, what you have to do and not what you want to do, conflicts, and arguments. One relationship that will need to be cultivated is your actions vs. your faith. It's hard work vs. laziness.
Virgo's sign is all about aligning your thoughts with the things that are chaotically happening to you and dealing with crisis after crisis. Things get hectic as Saturn puts on more and more responsibilities. This is a hectic time peppered with moments of utter boredom or procrastination. Saturn here has a lot to teach you about procrastination and waiting for the last moment to pay your bills and then getting hit with a late fee. You will have to have your thoughts fine-tuned; you don't want to manifest your fears do you? If you get a new job, you wonder if you can do it as Saturn has lots to teach you. You are an apprentice about to learn a new skill or trade that you will take into your future. We learn about service and being helpful to others without giving too much and neglecting our own lives. We learn it's best to avoid conflicts and to avoid enemies and, more importantly, how to get out of or manage debt. The 6th house in astrology is considered a difficult house, and Saturn is a malefic planet.
