Virgo: (Aug. 24-Sep. 23): As January begins Saturn the karmic task master is retrograde in the sign of Virgo. Retrogrades bring opportunities for review. The reality is, we get 3 chances at the big karmic lessons that Saturn teaches. The 1st, when the planet has it's first pass, the 2nd when the planet retrogrades and the 3rd when the planet goes direct again, for a third pass. How the 2nd and 3rd affect you is dependent on how much you resist the energy. Typically a retrograde asks us to release or let go of an action, habit, idea or behavior. The more unwilling we are to submit, the more difficult the transit will be. In your solar 1st house of physical appearance, leadership, starting over, and self assertion, Saturn here will tax the health and the heaviness of the planet can deplete your energy and make you sleepy or in need of extra sleep. Saturn rules age and many of you will have to work extra hard to combat the signs of aging. Starting over isn't always as easy as it should be or could be. Saturn makes you work for everything even new starts seem to take forever. Your hard work and persistence will in the long run pay off big time though. So whatever challenge is before you keep chipping away at it!
Since the newly elected president Barack Obama was elected when Saturn was at 19* Virgo, he's going to have to try to do the impossible and keep his promises or he will come under severe criticism when Saturn resumes direct motion. Since the Israeli war with the Palestinians began just before Saturn's retrograde this suggests it will continue through January and then again when Saturn approaches 21* Virgo again near the eclipses in August The planets Mars, Mercury and Venus have all changed signs and now the challenges begin.
Mercury ruler of your solar 1st house of independence and your solar 10th house of authority enters Aquarius your solar 6th house of work, heavy responsibilities and health. As much as work and health relate to our physical well being, our thoughts and the way we take care of our nervous system and worries plays an important role in talking the big problems. You are where your thoughts are and through it all you must remain calm and centered, not an easy feat!
Venus the planet of love ruler of your 2nd house of money and personal wealth enters Pisces your solar 7th house of relationships. The unique interchange with your 2nd house Libra and your 7th house which is ruled by Libra suggests something is going on with your relationships that you need to see more clearly and perhaps remove the rose colored glasses, or you will suffer both financially or in your personal relationships.
Jupiter the planet of luck and expansion enters the unique and exciting sign of Aquarius your solar 6th house of work, health and diet and both benefit from a renewed interest in making time for diet and exercise and your willingness to share responsibilities with your significant other. Raises and promotions are possible now as you can do no wring at your job!
Jupiter will join Chiron and Neptune already in the sign of Aquarius, on a personal and romantic level we will rebel against anyone using evasive behavior where you have to read between the lines and innuendos which keep you longing for the possibility of and hope of something down the line. Subtle hints, innuendos, implied promises and clandestine messages play on that part of your brain we are not used to using, causing a reaction of the nuclear type, when continual disappointment results.
The Full Moon at 21* Cancer occurs in your solar 11th house of friends and expectations, coworkers, pets, or those you are responsible for, female or family members could require time that you don't have. A small favor you ask for might not be taken seriously and you could be disappointed!
Mercury goes retrograde at 7* Aquarius until January 31st when it resumes direct motion at 21* Capricorn, where it was last on December 26th, 2008, in your solar 6th house of health again with Saturn retrograde in your 1st house pay extra care to illness and good habits! Typically Mercury retrogrades aren't a good time to start new ventures, relationships, sign contracts and make commitments.
The Sun enters Aquarius just in time for the US Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama. The Sun will transit your solar 6th house of pets, work, health and responsibilities that aren't yours. This transit will shed light on the places where you are giving too much and not getting anything back and where you are wasting your time!
There's a New Moon eclipse at 6* Aquarius a Solar Eclipse PT and the Chinese will celebrate The Chinese New Year, "Year of the OX". Hard work leading to success is the theme of the Year of the OX! This occurs in your solar 6th house makes you focus more on stream lining your day and getting into a routine that may be temporary or change in the future. New work responsibilities or training could be in the works.
Mercury retrograde conjoins Mars in Capricorn, and these two planets have been transiting side by side like little soldiers for about the last year! Their influence is felt in tele-communications, weather and electrical mishaps or outages. This could infer that a 3-4 day outage in one of these areas is possible. In your solar 5th house of children and 6th house of work, could affect your work place. As the month ends Mercury goes direct in Capricorn.
